At 2431 (Keighley) Squadron ATC, we regularly get flying slots at RAF Church-Fenton and RAF Leeming.

Around once a month, we get the opportunity to send 4 Cadets to either of these active RAF bases, so that they can undertake AEF (Air Experience Flying).

This means that the Cadets get to have a quick flying lesson in the Grob Tutor, with a qualified RAF Pilot!

The Cadets will get to practice all kinds of different flying techniques, starting off at the basic pitch, roll and yaw movements. After a few AEF visits, the Cadets can get the chance to do the take-off and taxiing.

At the end of every AEF, Cadets are offered the chance to do some aerobatics, where the pilot will first demonstrate the manoeuvre  and then offer the Cadet the chance to do it themselves!

Each flight lasts around 30 minutes. It is one of the most enjoyable activities Air Cadets do. It is an opportunity you wont get outside of the Air Cadet Organization.
